Find the stain before the next bride does

Return inspections run on your own checklist with photographs taken against that exact garment. A failed check records the defect, raises a charge on the booking, and holds the piece off the rail until it has been dealt with.

The agreement

What happens to a lost dupatta, agreed in writing

The hire agreement is generated from your template with the pieces, dates, deposit and replacement values already in it. The family signs at the counter, verified by one-time password, so the damage conversation later refers to something both sides accepted.

  • Replacement values written into the agreement
  • OTP-verified signature at the counter
  • Signed PDF stored against the booking

What boutique owners tell us

Six things that cost a garment rental business

  • A stain found after the next bride collects

If nobody inspects between hires, the damage becomes yours. Return inspections run on a checklist you write — beadwork, hem, lining, fastenings — with photographs against that garment, so a mark has a date and an owner.

  • Cleaning time nobody counted

A gown back on Sunday is not free on Monday. Put the garment into cleaning as a maintenance job and it stays out of availability until it is back on the rail — so you stop promising dates you cannot meet.

  • A size 12 that has been pinned to a 10

Alterations change what a garment actually is. Record the altered size against the piece so the next customer is quoted the truth, and note when it has been let back out.

  • Deposits argued over a missing dupatta

A set goes out as one line and comes back one piece short. Accessories are tracked as components, so the return note lists exactly what is missing and the charge is raised against the booking, not from memory.

  • Trials that quietly block a gown for a week

Three families want to try the same lehenga. Hold it for the fitting without committing it, and the hold expires on its own — so a maybe does not cost you a booking.

  • Wedding week: one outfit, three functions

Mehndi Friday, wedding Saturday, reception Sunday — sometimes the same piece, sometimes not. Availability is worked out per date, so the sequence is visible before you promise the third function.

Every garment with its size, condition and history

Each piece is its own record: size and altered size, colour, fabric, occasion, purchase and replacement value, condition grade and every hire it has been through. Accessories and jewellery hire alongside it as components.

  • Condition grade updated at every return
  • Sets and accessories as components

Hold it for the trial, quote it, collect the deposit

A fitting holds the garment against real dates without committing it. When the family decides, the hold becomes a booking with the deposit taken and the agreement signed before anything leaves the shop.

  • Quotation converted to a booking in one step
  • Deposit collected at the counter

FAQ

Costume rental software questions

What garment and occasion-wear boutiques ask before a demo.

Something else? or email sales@rentablez.com.

How does Rentablez handle damage found at return?

The return inspection runs on a checklist you define — beadwork, hem, lining, stains, fastenings, accessories — completed on the mobile app with photographs against that exact garment. A failure records a defect, raises a charge on the booking that can be settled from the deposit, and keeps the piece blocked until it is repaired or cleaned.

Can I stop a garment being booked while it is at the cleaners?

Yes. Send it to cleaning or repair as a maintenance job and the garment is blocked from allocation until the job is closed, so availability reflects the real turnaround rather than the return date.

How are trials and fittings handled?

A fitting holds the garment against the dates the family is considering without confirming a booking. If they decide against it the hold is released; if they go ahead it converts to a booking with the deposit and agreement, and the dates were never double-promised.

Can I track alterations?

Yes. Record the altered size against the garment as a field so the next quotation reflects what the piece actually is now, and update it when the alteration is let back out. The change sits in the garment history with the booking it was done for.

What about sets — a lehenga with a dupatta and jewellery?

A set can be a kit that goes out as one line while tracking each component. The return note shows exactly which piece is missing, and a charge for a lost dupatta is raised against the booking rather than argued from memory.

How are deposits managed?

Deposits are held against the customer separately from the hire charge and can be marked refundable or forfeitable. On a clean return the deposit is released; when damage is found, the charge is settled against it and the balance refunded.

Can customers browse the collection online?

Yes. The web store is a public catalogue on your own subdomain where customers filter by occasion, size and colour and check availability for their function dates. Requests arrive as enquiries you quote and approve.
